Picked these up today. Probably should have passed on them, but I have a really soft spot for these old girls. White one is a "Honda 50", Red one is a "Honda 90". Paid $275 for both. More than likely use the white one as a parts bike for the red one. Although I do like the looks of the white one more, so I may swap the engine from red one. Anyway, does anyone own/ride one of these or know anything about them? Fiance is gonna kill me for dragging these home, but the Helix is done..so I had to drag something home

WE are doing one at the shop total restore for a guy his dad gave it to him at 14 and he is doing the same next year japjunk.com has everything you need get out your check book about 5500.00 total restore CRAZY!!!got to love your kids jimi
I had thoughts of painting the frame and doing a complete restoration, as well as squeezing a new 120cc engine in. The bike only has 1,600 miles on it, so I have decided to just clean her up, replace the missing parts and ride her. Got the scoot stripped down to the frame. Thoroughly cleaning every nook and taking apart everything to lube/grease. Wheels are rusty but usable, but i was able to score a much nicer used set off of ebay. Tires are old but have almost new tread, so I'll keep those. Overall it'll have a barn find look to it which is fine with me. A full resto is crazy on these. I'd plop down the $2,500 for a symba first, although not as cool as the real thing. In it a total of $450 so far and I need a new seat and mirros ~$650-$700 hopefully when I'm done. Just dreading trying to get an Ohio title for it.
That is probably the simplest frame I have ever seen. No wonder they've made so many, they're easy to build. On an assembly line how long you figure it takes to churn out one of these, 4-5 minutes? Thanks for faithfully posting pics of your finds and progress.
It is crazy. I never realized how simple they were until I started breaking her down. The front suspension is about the only complicated thing on it. Those little front shocks are something. Rebuilt the horn button/headlight switch from the white one last night (the one on the red one was toast) Getting the engine cleaned up, gonna set the valve lash, points, etc while it is at eye level. Was able to pick up a really nice set of used wheels on ebay, an additional carb, used front brake hub and some missing parts. Hope to have those soon and hopefully be on the road mid March.
Well was able to pick up this '82 Passport for $175 today. Transmission seems to be jacked up, so it most likely will be put on the back burner until a Lifan swap can be done. All there minus the side covers, front emblem and choke cable. Fiance is less than thrilled
Finally got the '66 running yesterday, have to put some finishing touches on it. New coil finally came in ($90 from Honda) but that got me going. The clutchless manual is gonna take some getting used to. Confirmed that a lifan 120cc will bolt right into the C70 Passport, gonna try to see what is wrong with the current engine in it, but the final goal is to drop the $ on a Lifan.
Well here is what I started with a few weeks ago. Ended up using the white 50cc cub as a parts bike for the red 90cc CM91.
The 90cc cub when I brought it home.
Half way there
This is how she looked tonight. Still have some detailing to do, modified some of the 50cc cub plastics to fit, but she is overall together and best of all able to be ridden.
